Edit your team's basic info
Who this is for: team admin + coach Applies to: all
What this page covers
How to edit the basic facts about your team — its name, its season, its color, whether it is active, and the window during which new athletes can register — and where that information shows up for everyone else. After reading you'll be able to update the team's details and know where people will see the change.
Before you start
- You must be a team admin or a coach on the team. Coaches can help keep the team's basic information current; everything else on the team (fees, settings, passcode) stays with the team admin.
- Make sure you are viewing the team you want to edit (use the team picker to switch).
- Decide the new details first (for example, a corrected team name or a new season).
Step-by-step
- Open Team Settings and go to the General tab, then tap Edit Team Details (the screen is titled Edit Team Information).
- Change the fields you need:
- Team Name (up to 100 characters, required),
- Season — pick Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, Annual, or No season,
- Active Team switch — its subtitle explains: "Inactive teams are hidden from member lists",
- Color Theme — the color the app uses for your team (a color name or code such as
#00529Eorblue, or leave it empty; up to 50 characters). - Save your changes.
- To manage the registration window (when new athletes may register), open the Registration tab in Team Settings. Registration Opens and Registration Closes each take a date and time; Not set (always open) leaves that side open, so with no close date registration never closes on its own. Outside the window, families cannot register a new athlete. The same tab has quick actions — Close Registration Now, Set Close Date, and Make Always Open — and grade limits for registration (see Team fees for those options).
What you should see
- The editor confirms your changes are saved.
- The updated name and season now appear anywhere the team is listed — for example, in the team picker, and in the list of teams grouped by organization that people see when they are choosing or searching for a team.
- Team admins and coaches can edit this information. Other members see the current details but not the edit controls.
About the team's time zone
Groupset shows event times in your team's own time zone, which starts as Mountain Time (MT). You cannot pick it on the team info editor — the only time zone you can choose yourself is the one for quiet hours, in the team's communication settings (see Team communication settings). A team that trains outside Mountain Time should set that quiet-hours zone so notifications arrive at the intended local times.
Notes and limits
- Every team belongs to an organization (for example, a school district or club). The organization's name is shown alongside the team, and you manage your own team's details within it.
- A team can be marked active or inactive with the switch in the editor. Inactive teams do not appear in the lists where new people find and join teams.
- The very first team created for an organization creates the organization at the same time, and the person who creates it becomes its first team admin.
