What this page covers

Why the Results tab on a race is empty or shows an old sync time, when live updates happen, what to do when a Results may be outdated banner appears, and what to do when an athlete isn't matched to their result.

Common problems

The Results tab is empty, or shows an old "synced" time

Symptom: A race's Results tab shows nothing, or the "Results synced" footer shows a time from long ago.

Likely cause: Results come from the official timing service the race uses. They're imported into Groupset from there — the Results tab only shows what has been imported so far, and it can't pull results from the timing service itself. Until an import happens, the tab is empty by design.

What to do:

  1. Refresh the tab (reopen it, or use its refresh option) to pull the latest.
  2. If results were expected a while ago and still haven't appeared, tell your team admin — the results reach the app only when the people running the race import them from the timing service.

Live updates aren't happening during a race

Symptom: The results on screen don't change during the race, even though it's happening now.

Likely cause: Live updates only run during the race window (roughly from an hour before the race starts until an hour after it ends). During the race, results are re-imported about once a minute. Outside that window, the app still checks for updates every couple of minutes on its own — results can change after the race too, with late corrections and the final backfill — and you can refresh any time.

What to do:

  1. If it's outside the race window, give it a minute or refresh the tab to see the latest import.
  2. If you're inside the race window and it's still frozen, close and reopen the tab to re-connect to live updates.

A "Results may be outdated" banner appears

Symptom: The Results tab shows a Results may be outdated banner, or the results stop refreshing.

Likely cause: The app tried to refresh and couldn't reach the service. Rather than show a frozen list that looks live, it keeps the last good results on screen and flags them.

What to do:

  1. Tap the banner (or use the refresh option) to try again.
  2. If it keeps appearing, check your connection. The results already on screen are still the last ones imported.

An athlete isn't matched to a result

Symptom: An athlete placed in a race, but their name doesn't show as part of the team's results, or no result row appears for them.

Likely cause: The app links results to team athletes by name. If the name in the timing feed doesn't match the roster closely enough, no link is made — the result still exists in the category list, but it isn't tied to the athlete's profile.

What to do: Tell your team admin. They can compare the name in the results against the roster to find the mismatch.

Notes and limits

  • The Results tab only appears on race events, not practices.
  • Rider statuses you may see: Finished, on course (still racing), DNF (did not finish), DNS (did not start), DSQ (disqualified), and Provisional (unofficial — the final result may still change).
  • Results are visible to the whole team — anyone with an active membership sees the full field in every category, not just Groupset riders.
  • Parents get a push notification when their athlete's place changes during a race. If they're not arriving, see Notifications and push.
